Called to remember those in prison.

In 1999, while John and Alta Ludlam were attending a statewide prayer meeting focused on worship and intercession for Vermont, the Holy Spirit asked John, "Who will pray for the men that Christians are trying to protect their children from?" John answered that he would pray for the incarcerated. As he prayed, he experienced the power of the Holy Spirit and heard, "You will be much more involved in prison ministry."

Within weeks, John and Alta were invited to minister deliverance at Northern State Correctional Facility. They sold their home in Enosburg Falls in December 2000 and moved to Newport. Over the next several years, men were saved, baptized, filled with the Spirit, healed, and set free. Other volunteers joined the work, and by 2005 twelve volunteers associated with the ministry were serving in the facility.

In 2005, John and Alta were led to southern Vermont to begin ministry in Southern State Correctional Facility. They have continued serving there ever since — healing and deliverance remain central alongside gospel preaching, worship, prayer, communion, Christian media, and discipleship.
